Inadequacy

Inadequacy.... the theme of  thoughts swirling in my head as of late.  I won't go into all the details surrounding all the topics I feel inadequate in tackling because..... 1. I think it'll just feed the fear,  2. This would be a pretty long post,  and 3. I don't write this wanting a "Hilary, you can totally do this!" speech from anyone. I write this because I desire to be real- and admit that I get scared and feel in way over my head! I write this to remind myself of the obvious- I truly am inadequate, and ill equipped, and unable to accomplish all that God desires for me to... BUT HE CAN do it, in and through me! Phil. 1:6 "HE who began a good work in me will bring it to completion until the day of Jesus Christ"... NOT ME! Thank God- literally!

Yep, that's all I got for now. Short and sweet... but what I'm hanging on these days!

  1. Hey Hilary,it's Angie's mom..I stumbled onto your post on fb and read some other entries here. Let me just say, I LOVE the way you write! When's the book coming out??? This particular post kinda jumped out at me cuz this is sort of my theme this year. (I'm actually praying it never goes away; somehow I think it's pretty central to the Christian faith - and yet so unnatural!) Anyway, I thought I'd share a couple of my favorite "inadequacy" verses with you. So besides Philippians 1:6 which is great...I've been meditating on these:

"The LORD will perfect that which concerns me; your mercy, O Lord, endures forever; Do not forsake the work of your hands." - Ps 138:8
    and
Psalm 37:5-6 says, "Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him and He will do it. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light and your judgment as the noon day."

I'm SO glad He's got it all figured out, aren't you? God's blessings to you and your sweet family!!!

  2. Hi, Hilary! Funny how when God calls you to something that Satan is right there...waiting to pounce (our enemy, the devil, is like a roaring lion waiting to destroy). Well, funny probably isn't the best word choice, but I'm reminded that Satan is "a liar, and the father of ALL LIES"! Thank you for reminding ME! :) We step out in faith and then must walk in faith until God's perfect plan has played out and the end result has come to fruition!

  4. Another friend and I were just talking about this same thing this morning! We both agreed that we're so GLAD that God keeps putting us in situations that we can't handle on our own b/c it keeps us dependent on HIM...which is exactly where He wants us! Love your heart, girl!!!

  6. I think I fight with inadequacy more than any other feeling in my life. Whether it's being a wife, mother or sometimes just a believer, I always am left lacking. Thank you for a reminder that it is HE who started the good work and it is HE who will finish it.
